Rare Russian

Is my cat a rare breed cross?
My cat is a long-haired Russian blue with a short nubbly tail. is that special? HES SO CUDDLY!!
(his mommy had a nubbly tail too.
(im also trying to figure out what breed his mommy is.)
(im guessing she is somehow part bobcat.)
Thanks!
Bobcats don’t want to breed with domestic cats, the tail is most likely a normal cat mutation–there are at least two cat breeds that have partial or no tails, and genetically it can show up in any litter if one of the parents carries the gene (the mother by your description). That means it’s likely one in four kittens can have a stubby or no tail when born.
If you don’t have papers on one of the parents or grandparents, it’s likely not any Russian blue in the cat. Sorry. Most cat breeds, when crossed with regular cats, loose all trace of the ‘breed’ in the batch of kittens. In other words, the kittens do not breed true, they become regular domestic shorthairs or domestic longhairs. Even breeding them back to the original breed won’t produce kittens that look like the breed.

A Russian Journal $11.99 Just after the iron curtain fell on Eastern Europe John Steinbeck and acclaimed war photographer, Robert Capa ventured into the Soviet Union to report for the New York Herald Tribune. This rare opportunity took the famous travellers not only to Moscow and Stalingrad – now Volgograd – but through the countryside of the Ukraine and the Caucasus. A RUSSIAN JOURNAL is the distillation of their journey and remains a remarkable memoir and unique historical document. Steinbeck and Capa recorded the grim realities of factory workers, government clerks, and peasants, as they emerged from the rubble of World War II. This is an intimate glimpses of two artists at the height of their powers, answering their need to document human struggle |

The Search for Self-Definition in Russian Literature $158 In Gorbachev’s Russia and outside of it the strength and scope of Russian nationalism is currently a subject of strenuous scholarly debate. The many and varied forms national ideology takes in Russian literature are the subject of this collection of essays. Over the past two hundred years Russians have used their literature to express both conformist and nonconformist views on the relationship between the individual and society and on Russian national destiny. Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Grossman, Tvardovsky, Rasputin, Zinovyev and others have taken diverse stands in regard to Russian nationalism, and their points of view are explored in this book. Several chapters offer suggestive overviews of nationalism’s role in literature. The influence of Stalinist mentality on nationalism is also explored, as are the overt expressions of nationalist sentiments in the conditions of Gorbachev’s glasnost. This book offers a rare insight into the present Soviet Russian literary scene, and it will help refocus future studies of Russian literature. |

The Russian Ballet Girl $1.19 Marisk spent her girlhood in the slavish confines of Russian serfdom, where the lash was used with cruel regularity. At first she tried to resist. But she finally gave in and discovered a strange satisfaction in pain. Later, as a student at the renowned Imperial Dancing Academy, punishment and perversion became a graphic expression for her wild, lusty dance. A rare masterpiece. |

Russian Rule in Samarkand 1868-1910 $125 Russian Rule in Samarkand examines the structures, personnel, and ideologies of Russian imperialism in Turkestan, taking Samarkand and the surrounding region as a case-study. The creation of a colonial administration in Central Asia presented Russia with similar problems to those faced by the British in India, but different approaches to governance meant that the two regimes often stood in stark contrast to one another. While the Russian administration was characterised bycorruption and inefficiency, British rule in India was often more violent, and its subjects much more heavily taxed.Opening with the background to the political situation in Central Asia and a narrative of the Russian conquest itself, the book moves on to analyse official attitudes to Islam and to pre-colonial elites, and the earliest attempts to establish a functioning system of revenue collection. Uncovering the religious and ethnic composition of the military bureaucracy, and the social background, education and training of its personnel, Alexander Morrison assesses the competence of these officersvis—agrave–;-vis their Anglo-Indian counterparts. Subsequent chapters look at the role of the so-called 'native administration' in governing the countryside and collecting taxes, the attempt to administer the complex systems of irrigation leading from the Zarafshan and Syr-Darya rivers, and the nature andfunctions of the Islamic judiciary under colonial rule. Based on extensive archival research in Russia, India, and Uzbekistan, and containing much rare source material translated from the original Russian, Russian Rule in Samarkand will be of interest to all those interested in the history of the Russian Empire and European Imperialism more generally. |

Russian Philatelic Forgeries $53.63 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Russian stamps have been extensively forged. Both rare and common stamps have been forged and certain stamps, for instance those of the Army of the North, are more common forged than genuine. A very well known example of forgery involves the first stamp issued in Imperial Russia. Because a perforating machine was not available, these were issued without perforations in December 1857. By January, the machines were in place, and the same stamp was issued with perforations. The imperforate stamp is, as a result, more rare than the perforate. Russian Views of Japan, 1792-1913 $44.95 This book presents rare narratives written by Russians – explorers, official envoys, scholars and, later, tourists – who visited Japan between 1792 and 1913. |

|
Russian Views of Japan, 17921913 $71.6 Before Japan was opened up in the 1850s, contact with Russia as well as other western maritime nations was extremely limited. Yet from the early eighteenth century onwards, as a result of their expanding commercial interests in East Asia and the North Pacific, Russians had begun to encounter Japanese and were increasingly eager to establish diplomatic and trading relations with Japan. This book presents rare narratives written by Russians, including official envoys, scholars and, later, tourists, who visited Japan between 1792 and 1913. The introduction and notes set these narratives in the context of the history of RussoJapanese relations and the genre of European travel writing, showing how the Russian writers combined ethnographic interests with the assertion of Russian and European values, simultaneously inscribing power relations and negotiating cultural difference. The Decline of the Russian Peasant Household $139.11 Bill Shinn documents the rise and fall over the course of the past century of one of the last legal relics of Russian rural historythe peasant household. And along the way, he furnishes us with a vast store of information (much of it previously unpublished) relating to the shifting fortunes of the private plot. . . . It is a solidly documented scholarship, some rare portions of which are bound to spark controversy. It is clearly essential reading for all who have an interest in Soviet peasant affairs. Frank A.
